Skipped the game when another point opened up where you need 20 iron. It's taikun, but there's no automation in it. I was mining coal or ore for about 20 minutes to work into iron, and the whole time I was thinking of turning the game off, but waiting for what comes next. And in the end I got tired. The visuals are great. But the mechanics need more work.
"Paywall Eden is a jam about making in-game purchases actually fun, clever, or surprising — without ruining the player experience"
You're blocking core game mechanics behind a paywall. That's nothing more than shit design whilst being disrespectful to the players time as it is.
I've played six games already. It's really interesting how the payment mechanics work to redefine the gameplay. What is implemented (or almost) in https://itch.io/jam/paywall-eden-playgama-xsolla/rate/3621320. Unfortunately, you're right, and I haven't found a good game idea to implement it. I think the same as you do "Paywall Eden is a jam about making in-game purchases actually fun, clever, or surprising — without ruining the player experience". But as far as I understand, the themes presented leave a back door for my implementation too. Invest to save time.
Assistant doesn't load
Buying an assistant is like an in-game purchase. The jam's organizers said to give the player a reward in the full version of the game, and not to give anything in the jam. So you won't see anything here.
Then you need to make this clear, right now, it says
Get <> from Earth!
The <> assistant wil help you: loading and unloading the stack twice as fast!
[TAKE!]
[No, thanks]
Why would you NOT take this? instead it just looks broken as its not a "oh, this costs (currency you don't have but can work towards).
The version of the game presented in the jam will not be changed. Yes, I did not tell the players about the specifics of the jam before the game and focused on the gameplay. Sorry, I did not understand what your proposal regarding the offer is.
